Chile Scholarships
Around 500 Chilean sponsored postgraduate and research students will come to Australia next year under an umbrella agreement signed by Universities Australia and the Government of the Republic of Chile. Universities Australia has a new website with full details about the Becas Chile scholarships:

The program aims to strengthen Chile's human capital development and the scope and quality of education, scientific and technological research and innovation in areas associated with Chile's socio-economic development.
QUT welcomes scholarship applicants for postgraduate and coursework studies and QUT's annexe agreement provides 10 full PhD tuition scholarships a year for Chilean researchers for the next five years.
The scholarships cover a wide range of research fields including:
Agriculture and food industry
Biotechnology
Information and Communication Technologies
Energy Environmental issues
Health
Education
Housing and public security
Further information about QUT's research expertise in these areas can be found at http://www.expertguide.qut.edu.au/The Chilean Government will fund students' travel, living and other expenses. The first intake of scholars will be in 2009.
QUT's Dean of Graduate Studies, Professor Rod Wissler, said that the scholars would find that QUT's strong emphasis on high-impact research that solves real world problems would be exciting and professionally fulfilling. "We also understand that graduate students for whom English is an additional language will need extra support so we have committed to providing tuition-free English for Academic Purposes programs for these candidates," Professor Wissler said.
